Time and Love

Time is a precious thing. It is something that cannot be reacquired. Once it is used up, it is gone.

That raises the question, are we spending our time on what really matters?

Many things in our world today are constantly trying to catch our attention. That new car, financial strategy, celebrity, goal to attain, or company to invest in, are all examples of things trying to catch our attention.

These things are not always bad, but, when we start prioritizing them above our walk with God, those very things that the world promotes can become idols in our lives!

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” - Ephesians 5:15-16

So we know we are supposed to prioritize our walk with God, but how do we go about doing so? Well, it all starts out with a love for God!

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” - John 14:15

And we know that “we love because he first loved us” according to 1 John 4:19!

Therefore, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (I John 4:11)

In conclusion, let’s look at what 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 say about what love looks like:

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Let us take the time to intentionally love each other as Christ loves us!
