The Lord is My Shield | Anchored in Hope Devotions

Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Sometimes in the middle of the bustle of life, we forget to slow down and listen for the voice of God.

Sometimes in the middle of sadness, we forget that God sits with us.

Sometimes in the middle of fear, we forget to let go and trust Him.

But the thing is, Jesus never forgets to sit with us, hold us, carry us, or shield us.

We cannot know how many times a day God protects us from something, but sometimes God does let us see it.

Sometimes He does let us see Him protect us, and when He does, we need to thank Him.

We also need to share those times with others. We need to tell them that Jesus is our shield! He is our protector, our Father, and our very best Friend.

God is there when no one else is. And He rushes to help His children when we call to Him.

Being a shield doesn’t mean He is hard and distant. He is a Father who stays close, guarding and protecting His children.

Psalm 18:30 “This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.”

Psalm 91:2 “I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

I really like the points you brought up about us forgetting about God and the importance of our relationship with Him, while we are always on His mind. Shows you how truly depraved we are and how much we need God! Praise the Lord!
