As I have gotten older, I have begun to appreciate the little things more.
Those things that I once took for granted in the moment, I now wish I could go back and enjoy again. Those seemingly small, insignificant little details that ran in the background, now feel so clearly out of sight.
While the natural inclination is to want to have the past back, that is simply not possible. However, you can learn from the past, and that is the key.
Instead of focusing on the negatives of life and our own failures, we can instead learn to look at things with a grateful heart!
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 107:1)
Because of the power of the one who first loved us, we can have the joy of the Lord that transcends our circumstances.
“And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10b)
And even when life is not at its smoothest, we can be humbled by leaning on the everlasting arms of God and experience peace that passes all understanding!
“The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” (Deuteronomy 33:27a)
“6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:6-8)
Let us turn our focus to our almighty, infinite, loving Father today!
