Anti-Peace | Anchored in Hope Devotionals

I believe this will be my last devotional wrapping up peace. So far I have addressed the need for peace in our lives and the reason we should be peacemakers. Today you will hear about the enemy of our peace and how we can fight back.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” - 1 Peter 5:8

Being devoured doesn’t sound very peaceful to me.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” - John 10:10

Being stolen from and being destroyed is not very peaceful at all. I love the second part of that verse, though. Jesus was speaking.

“For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.” - 1 Thessalonians 3:5

Here Paul is speaking to the Church of the Thessalonians, talking about his fear that Satan had reached them and taken them away from the faith. The next verse explains more of this stealing attribute of Anti-Peace.

“Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.” - Mark 4:15

Satan (AKA Anti-Peace) is a thief who wants to steal you away from God; a destroyer who wants to make sure you never reach paradise; and an enemy that prowls around like a lion, violent, looking for someone to consume. If you can think of anyone less peaceful than Satan himself, the being who goes against all of God’s creation, twisting everything upside down, and doing the exact opposite of what God would do or want to be done, please, let me know.

Until you can find that being, prepare yourself against Satan and his Anti-Peace by praying and reading your word daily, fellowshiping with friends, putting on the Armor of God, and living the fruits of the spirit. God is peaceful; we should be peaceful, and Satan is the least peaceful of all.
