Jesus was the best example of how we should live.
As His followers, we must look to His example and imitate His character. When we look at the heart of Jesus, we see that His ambition was to serve others, not Himself. In the same regard, we must be willing to serve others.
In fact, Romans 12:13 says “Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”
To be hospitable means to be friendly and welcoming to strangers or guests. Our hearts should always be seeking to help and serve others as much as possible. This can be difficult, though.
Why is that?
Well, oftentimes, our flesh causes us to think and serve ourselves more than others. This is NOT what we are supposed to do.
Philippians 2:3-4 says “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Imagine you and your friend ran a 5 K together. At the end of the race, there is only one iced cup of water on the table.
A selfish mindset doesn’t even consider that your friend might want that cup of water more, so you take the drink without a second thought.
Whereas a selfless mindset would sacrifice the opportunity to get rid of your parched throat, and you would offer the cup to your friend.
How in your life are you being hospitable?
Are the interests and needs of others coming to mind first, or are your own interests at the top of the priority list?
A trait of a true Christian is that they are hospitable and selfless. We should always seek to serve others.
I challenge you this week to look for opportunities to be hospitable and put other people above yourself.
Have an absolutely amazing week, and may God bless you!

I think this is a really great message Isaac on being a humble servant just like Christ! However, I do believe you mistakenly used the word hospitable here, or at least I dont think you drove the main point of its meaning. To be hospitable literally means, "the friendly, generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers, aimed at making them feel comfortable and welcomed." I guess it would've just wanted to see a point on that specifically in your message, as the true definition of hospitality, but I understand this devotion all the same!! Thank you!!
