Face to Face | Anchored in Hope Devotions

Who is someone that you would want to meet face to face?

Is it a sports athlete, a movie star, a business guru, or some other person that would make you excited to meet?

If we get excited and even intimidated by meeting people we admire, imagine how we will feel when we see God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, face to face!

1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”

What emotions do you think you will feel on that day? Will they be emotions of joy and gratitude, or will they be a humble reverence and trembling at the holiness of God?

I am confident that believers who attempted to follow God will feel all of these emotions!

On the one hand we will see our Savior who paid the price for our sin! What greater joy, what greater love, what greater appreciation is there than to look into the eyes of the One who was willing to leave the throne room of heaven, be nailed to a cross by His creation, and have His own Father turn His face away in order that He might save us!

What overwhelming sense of gratitude we should feel from that sacrifice!

Yet there is another side to this face to face encounter, and that is the account we will give to God for our lives which will be the topic of next week’s devotional.
