Sometimes the battles of life threaten to overwhelm us! We are pressed in from every side with demands and responsibilities whether at home or at work or school or in a season of caregiving or any number of things. We may feel like running away from our problems and relate to the Psalmist David when he said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest." (Psalm 55:6) However, the most intense battles can be the ones on the inside in our hearts and minds. We may be going through the motions on the outside, but inwardly we're falling apart. And we can't run away from ourselves. But we can run to God and hide ourselves in Him!
"You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance." (Psalm 32:7)
We are not meant to go through life in our own strength. God designed us to bring glory to Himself through a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. Every day we need fresh supplies of His grace and strength found through spending time with Him in His Word and prayer.
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:4-5)
"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us." (Psalm 62:8)
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16)
God invites us to draw near to Him and to cast all our cares upon Him. He is all-sufficient to meet our every need and to give us grace and strength for whatever we are facing in life. There is nothing too hard for Him! Draw close and discover the peace and joy that only He can give!
